HIA, the voice of Australia’s residential building industry, released the HIA – JELD-WEN Housing to 2020 report. The report provides projections of the underlying demographic demand for housing and the number of dwellings to be completed over the next nine years at a national, state, and local government area.
The Reserve Bank Board was correct in holding fire and keeping interest rates steady in August, says the Housing Industry Association (HIA), the voice of Australia’s home building industry.
“In times of heightened economic uncertainty the normal “rules” shouldn’t apply and keeping rates on hold is the course the RBA should continue to steer in 2011,” said HIA Chief Economist, Dr Harley Dale.
The Federal Government’s plans to introduce a carbon pricing mechanism will impact across the entire Australian economy. The residential building industry will be affected more than most.

A lift in new home lending in May is encouraging but much larger and sustained improvements are needed to make real inroads on the nation‟s current weak residential building levels, says the Housing Industry Association, the voice of Australia‟s home building industry.
